The Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) offers an unrivalled centre of excellence for teaching and research in the environmental sciences. Co-located with university staff are NERC’s Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, CABI Bioscience and a growing number of commercial organisations. The result is a powerful UK and European centre, recognised internationally for it’s excellence in environmental research, which has the ability to inform policy.

Masters programmes and several funded PhD’s are available to study full or part time. Taught programmes include 6 modules and contain a substantial research project with integrated research training skills. Masters students within LEC have the opportunity to gain real-world experience by working on a collaborative project with business via the industrial placement module and/or a longer 3-4 month dissertation project.

Over 70% of our graduates end up working or pursuing further study in the Environmental Sector. Students develop transferable skills appropriate to careers in research, consultancy or industry.
